SINGLE-MINDED...Iven Gouthro has overcome obstacles to be a force for Team Nova Scotia.
CAPERS Academy U17AAA Boys striker Iven Gouthro has hit the goal trail for Team Nova Scotia as they chase Canada Games gold in St John's, Newfoundland.
Nova Scotia won a tight opener 1-0 against New Brunswick before the crucial second match against Northwest Territories that saw them surge to a 4-0 triumph with Iven ramming home a rebound to score the second goal of a priceless success.
Team NS will now face Quebec in the semi-final tonight (Thursday) for a chance to be involved in the Gold medal game.
Iven has grown up as a player on the island at Cape Breton FC and now the CAPERS Academy and everyone within Soccer Cape Breton wishes the Provincial players and the coaching staff of Mesut Mert and Mark Sweetapple every success in the last four crunch.
Regional Director of Soccer Development Iain King said: "It's tough to be the only CAPER going into a Provincial set-up in the HRM when every other player has club mates and friends beside them for solace and support but Iven has coped with that for years.
"He is a special talent who has grown up as a player and, most importantly, as a person over the last year or so. Few see the way he helps younger players in the Academy with their game but we do.
"We are extremely proud of his goal in this prestigious tournament and we are willing him on now to bring home a medal."
