SOCCER CAPE BRETON Assistant Technical Director Kuvy Moodley will move on from his post at the end of this summer after landing a sought after slot on the physiotherapy roster at Dalhousie University.
Top scholar Kuvy, also an assistant coach for the CAPERS Men's program, graduated from CBU recently with a degree in Sport, Physical Activity and Leadership and also received the John J. McCarthy Memorial Award for the highest average in the final year of the BACS degree.
Kuvy's role with Soccer Cape Breton has grown over the past three years and as his coaching experience and education strengthened he moved into his key post helping to shape the growth of the game on the island.
This summer he is also Head Coach of the highly promising U15AAA Girls in the CAPERS Academy and plays a crucial role too in the moulding of the U13AA Boys group.
Kuvy stressed: "Despite intending to go into physiotherapy when I started my degree at CBU two years ago, this was a very difficult decision to make but one that I believe is the best decision for me.
"With the way this degree works I will have two summer placement positions which I hope to do in Sydney so that I can continue to coach in the summers.
"So I hope this is not a goodbye, but more of a “I’ll see you all again when the sun comes out in May!”
Coach Moodley will continue to work in all areas of Soccer Cape Breton until he leaves for Halifax to begin classes in early September.
SCB would like to place on record their sincere thanks to Kuvy for all his dedication, hard work and deep care for all of the players and coaches he has helped over the years. The search to find a new Assistant Technical Director will begin this week.
Regional Director of Soccer Development Iain King said: "I am hugely proud of Kuvy's academic achievements and the chance he now has ahead of him but I will miss him greatly.
"Coaching can be a lonely job at times and I have been privileged to have Kuvy working alongside me over the last three years in our quest to help improve standards and grow the game in Cape Breton.
"We have shared so many highs and lows with SCB, the CAPERS Academy, CBU and now as we work together with the Team Nova Scotia U15s Boys and try to win an Atlantic Championship together early next month.
"Kuvy is not only an excellent coach - on the brink of adding Canada Soccer B and Children's Licences to his CV - but he is a top human being and one I owe a big debt to as a colleague."
The search for Kuvy's successor starts tomorrow, Tuesday June 24, when a story and job description will be placed on the website.
