NORTH INVERNESS COACHES GET SET FOR NEW SEASON

May. 03, 2025

NORTH INVERNESS UNITED coaches are putting in the hours to improve their education in the Beautiful Game as the club get ready for the Soccer Cape Breton summer season to kick off next month.

Regional Director of Soccer Development Iain King was in Cheticamp this weekend to take the NIUSA technical staff through their paces in sessions that will help them coach players from minis right up to the U13-U18 age groups.

Over two sessions on Friday night and Saturday morning at the Cape Breton Highlands Education Centre Iain first modelled sessions and then had the coaches work through them together with enthusiastic players from NIUSA as the training squads.

North Inverness Technical Director Tyler Paturel, also a leading referee on the island, encouraged all those interested in their children playing this summer to get registered as the deadline looms and he said: "We are already very hopeful we will pass last year's registrations number as we head into the closing stages of the process.

"We are committed to providing all of the children under our care with a quality soccer experience from informed coaches and Iain's visit was a great help towards that."

Over the weekend in the beautiful seaside Cabot Trail town UEFA A Licence coach Iain took a deep dive into how Soccer Cape Breton can best help grassroots coaches over the summer in terms of technical expertise.

Iain stressed: "We feel one of our biggest influences can be in the provision of weekly session plans especially tailored for each age group so volunteer coaches with busy lives can arrives at the practice field ready to go.

"We will share these each Friday direct to the coaches this year to ensure they have as much help as we can give them.

"In the three years I have been with SCB I have always marvelled at how hard the Executive at NIUSA work to keep the game thriving with around 125 players from Cheticamp and the surrounding areas playing each summer.

"The magnificent work of Moira Chiasson and others is now being carried on by Tyler, Lindsay Chiasson, the Board and the coaches and it is always a pleasure and a privilege to make the trip to stay connected with North Inverness and provide all the help we can."
