CAPERS Academy player Matthew Cormier has won a slot on the Team Nova Scotia squad for the second year in succession.
The Whitney Pier product won a gold medal with the Provincial U13 team last year, now he has been selected again after coming through the tough selection process this Fall/Winter.
Matthew, who was named CAPERS MVP in the recent Friendship Cup matches with CS Dieppe, stars at centre-back for the Academy side and is gearing up for the upcoming summer season under the guidance of his coaches Jeff MacLean, Josh MacKillop and current CBU CAPERS Varsity player Ryan Wadden.
Regional Director of Soccer Development Iain King, pictured with Matthew as he received his MVP award, said: "We first recognised Matthew in the Whitney Pier U11s squad when I came to the island three years ago and his coaches there deserve huge credit for growing his love of the game.
"Matthew arrives at the Academy every day focused and ready to work and we collaborate with him on and Individual Development Plan to get the best out of him.
"He has a lot of growth areas in his game and work to do but he knows this. He has a high ceiling in the game and it is our job to help him reach it."
