CAPERS Academy provided a trio of players who were part of the Team Nova Scotia squad who were crowned U17 Girls Atlantic Provincial champions in Halifax.
Goalkeeper Sadie Delorey, midfielder Alyse Tierney and striker Ava MacDonald all played important roles for Team NS as they clinched the gold medal with a 3-0 Final win over Newfoundland.
The girls are part of a dedicated squad battling it out to be named amongst the 18 players and two alternates who will represent our province in the Canada Games in St John’s Newfoundland in August this year.
Sadie, Alyse and Ava have had a hectic start to this soccer year already and had a superb experience representing Nova Scotia when they travelled to Florida in January to take part in the prestigious Disney Showcase tournament.
In the Atlantics Team NS tied with Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island in the round-robin and defeated New Brunswick to make the Final.
Ava scored three tournament goals, one assisted by Alyse, and Sadie continued to perform well between the sticks as they all represented the island with pride.
Sadie’s talent was originally developed in the North Nova club in Antigonish before she moved to Cape Breton FC to play AAA soccer.
Alyse and Ava, who both attend Riverview HS, are huge parts of the fabric of CBFC as members of the Future Coach initiative and the TELUS SheCANCoach scheme.
They give back to their local community coaching the children in the Soccer Cape Breton Minis and Skill Centre programs.
